Where we are

We are based in the riverside suburb of Bicton in Perth’s south where the Swan bends around the sand and pines of Point Walter, a little upstream from Fremantle. You’ll find us on the corner of View Terrace and Harris Street, just across the road from Bicton Primary School.

There’s both church and street parking available, and our facilities are wheelchair accessible, so please don’t fret about getting in and out!

What we hope to be

We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Western Australia, which means we are led by a session of elders — chosen from within the congregation, and ordained to teach and to shepherd. Our aim is that everything in the life of this church is done decently and in good order: transparent, accountable and respectful in all things.

As a congregation, we aim to be a church marked by practical and personal care — whether we are gathered on Sundays, or scattered throughout the week. Our hope for every person is not attendance but discipleship: that each one would be encouraged, and would grow in faith and in the ordinary obedience that follows it.

What to expect if you visit

Our Sunday mornings start at 9am with a Prayer Group and Sunday School, both of which run for about 20 minutes before our main service starts at 9:30am.

Our service is covenantal in shape, which is a way of saying it is a conversation. God speaks to us through his Word, and we respond to him in song, in prayer, in confession, and in our offerings. We may not be particularly formal, but we do take our worship seriously – we come to meet with Jesus, and to be shaped and formed by Him each day and each week anew.

We sing a mixture of traditional and modern hymns. The Bible is read and preached. We pray together, for the church, for our suburb, and for the world. If you are new, you will not be singled out, asked to speak, or expected to give anything. Come as you are; most of us dress casually, and there is time afterwards to stay and talk.

Ways to get involved

If you’d like to get connected, we’d love to welcome you to our community.

We have both Bible Study (Romans) and Westminster Catechism groups that meet weekly. The catechism classes work slowly through the historic questions and answers that have taught the Christian faith for centuries — a patient, unfashionable, surprisingly rewarding way to learn.

We have a craft group that meets monthly, open to anyone who would like to sit, make something, and enjoy good company while doing it.

And we gather regularly for intentional times of community prayer, which is where a good deal of the real work gets done.

Beyond our own congregation, we support mission work here in Australia and throughout our region, and we look for ways to share church life with like-minded churches and organisations nearby. We would rather be part of something wider than keep to ourselves.
